Here is a brief summary of major actions taken at the July 11 regular Lebanon City Council meeting:
✅ Council approved Bill No. 6316 authorizing a study for pedestrian crossing improvements and potential ADA accessible parking spaces in downtown Lebanon.
What does this mean?
This is the first step in coming up with a plan to improve ADA accessible parking and crosswalks in downtown Lebanon. Plans will be developed and submitted to council for future action.
✅ Council approved Bill 6315 authorizing 16 street overlay projects.
What does this mean to the community?
Based on customer feedback, street improvements have been a top priority for residents. Council has taken this feedback and invested an additional $500,000 into street improvements. In this first round of improvements, 13,317 linear feet of street will be upgraded, including all or portions of: Willow Lane, Nelson Drive, Holly Street, Nelson Court, Greenwood Drive, Pine Street, Trent Street, Dwight Street, Dickens Drive, Thomas Drive, Cedar Drive, Ronald Drive, Indian Creek Drive, Zachary Drive, Twin Maples Street and Twin Oaks Street. Work on these roadways will begin later this summer.
✅ Council approved bills 6316 through 6322 authorizing the purchase of infrastructure materials for Legacy Trails and Flatwood subdivisions.
What does this mean for Lebanon?
Lebanon has had a shortage of housing and local builders are investing in the community and constructing new subdivisions. Approval of these bills will provide the city with the street, sidewalk, storm drainage and water/sewer materials to build the city infrastructure needed to support these new developments.
✅ Council approved Bill No. 6325 authorizing new roofs for Fire Stations No. 1 and 2.
What does this mean for the community?
The roofs on Fire Stations No. 1 and 2 have passed their lifespan. This authorization will provide for new roofs and help improve and maintain our city public safety resources.
✅ In other news, council approved Mayor Jared Carr’s appointments to the Board of Public Works. Ted Dahl was appointed to a one-year term ending in July 2023, Don Anderson was appointed to a two-year term ending in July 2024, LeAnn Mather was appointed to a three-year term ending July 2025 and Jeremy Goforth was appointed to a four-year term ending July 2026.
