The City of Lebanon proudly announces that its Finance Department has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023. This award underscores the city’s unwavering commitment to the highest principles of governmental budgeting. Notably, this marks the tenth consecutive year the City of Lebanon has achieved this recognition.

Kat Gill, Director of Finance at the City of Lebanon, along with her dedicated team, played a pivotal role in securing this accolade, the highest form of acknowledgment in governmental budgeting. The award represents the Finance Department's commitment to creating a budget that not only functions as a comprehensive financial plan but also as a policy document, an operations guide, and an effective communications device.

To qualify for this honor, the City of Lebanon meticulously adhered to the nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These stringent standards required the city’s budget to be rated "proficient" in all four essential categories, as well as in the fourteen mandatory criteria within these categories.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our Finance Department,” said Mayor Jared Carr. “Under Kat's leadership, the team has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and strategic financial planning. Their effort not only enhances our city’s financial health but also sets a standard for excellence that all municipalities can aspire to. Achieving this award for the tenth year is a remarkable milestone that speaks volumes about the consistent quality and reliability of our financial practices.”

This enduring recognition places the City of Lebanon in a distinguished group of municipalities that have consistently set a high benchmark for governmental budgeting.

The GFOA, serving over 22,500 members and their communities, continues to advance excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research.
